![]() ![]() It is used with ground engaging implements, like ploughs or harrows. Position is as it sounds, you set a position and the implement stays in that position.ĭraft is different. Tractor hydraulic act in 2 modes: position or draft. I will await some more replies & hopefully gain a better understanding of the Dexta. I am not yet fully versed on what "draft" is & some of the other terms I see used regarding the Dexta. I`m hoping that this may assist the 3PL do what it should, but firstly I need to learn more about what Brian has recommended. I`m basically just stressing & straining the whole machine too much.Īpart from the fact I need muscles on my muscles to turn the steering wheel with the loder on. I have decided to remove the front end loader from the Dexta as it not a big enough tractor for the work I`m using it for. It is with the help of this forum I hope to be able to learn enough from the gurus out there in Dextaland to fix most of the Hydraulic problems. I am bringing the Dexta home from our property (200 km away) in order to give her a good refit/repair. So the oil level should be high enough for the pump to pick up. I`ve since added about 10 litres to the Diff/axle housing, probably too much I know. The old rams would leak anything up to about 2 litres plus per hour. The old rams were absolutely peeing out oil so I replaced them with new ones. The answer is yes to checking the oil level. Is there somewhere I can read up to get a better idea of how to fix this 3PL problem I have. This valve is stuck & I`ve never been able to move it. There is another plunger type valve on top of the gearbox in front of the seat. The only lever I use for the 3PL is the one on my right when in the seat. I`ve read some small articles about the Dexta regarding where & when it was built etc but that`s as far as my technical knowledge extends. Since then I have come to appreciate the Dexta a bit more. I bought the tractor 2 yrs ago as a cheap, rough workhorse. Unfortunately I dont know so much, the terms you have used like "position control follower pin" & "draft position selector" are not ones I`m familiar with. It certainly sounds like you know your Dextas. I know it sounds too simple, but often overlooked, If it was a bit low to start with, it does not take much more of a drop in level before the pump starts sucking air. Have you checked the rear axle oil level? When the rams are up, you will have a lot of oil out of the axle and in the rams. If you have been using a front end loader, have you lost any oil when coupling/uncoupling? leaking rams? To confirm this, just apply a little pressure to the Draft/Position selector and see if the lift comes up.Īdjustment means the top will have to come off but this is no great problem.Īlthought Brian is right in what he says, before you go taking the top off: I would think that your lift is out of adjustment and your Position Control follower pin worn. If it sounds to good to be true, It usually is. I`ve been searching for a site like this for a while now, so many thanks to Stefan for recommending it to me. I know this because the linkage arms touch the seat slightly when fully raised. On the odd occasion the blade will rise to it`s full height while I`m driving along. I have been using a grader blade with rippers on the back for stick raking & this works fine but when I need to lift the blade up it will only raise a couple of inches above the ground. My biggest problem with the Dexta currently is the 3PL won`t raise up most of the time. I have a 1959 dexta which is fitted with a front end loader, it runs quite well although sounds as though it has a bit more than the standard diesel knocking noise.
